Alderton is a village and parish 1 mile west from the North Sea, and 8 miles south east from Woodbridge, or by ferry 6½, near the mouth of the navigable river Deben; and in the Wilford Hundred. The church of St Andrew is a flint building with chancel, added in 1864; the tower is in ruins.
